| Can I download the results to Statistical Analysis programs like SPSS ? |
|
WWW.surveyz.com provides you with the ability to download both the Raw Data as well as the analysis reports. To import the data into statistical programs like SPSS you can download and save the raw data as a CSV (Comma Separated) ASCII Text file. If you have Microsoft Excel installed on your computer, this file will be automatically loaded into Excel. Save it as an XLS file. This XLS file can then be read (File Open) directly into SPSS. Data may be exported using the EXPORT option under the View Results tab. After you click on the export link, an icon will appear in the export table. Simply click on the little computer icon and Excel will begin to open and give you the option to Open or Save your file. Select Open into Microsoft Excel rather than Save. Once in Excel, you can edit and save your data. Once in Excel, save the file as a worksheet. SPSS will read the first row of the spreadsheet as the variable names associated with the data columns. SPSS constrains the width (number of characters) for the Variable Name Labels to 8. In the Excel file you will note that at the top of the columns, the labels from your survey include both the questions (on one line) and the answers (on the line below them). The Variable Name Labels will need to be shortened to 8 characters each and must appear in the appropriate columns along the first row of the Excel spreadsheet. Once in Excel, you can adjust formatting for the number of decimals, column width, string vs numeric data, etc. Once completed with formatting, you must save the data as a XLS worksheet. Open SPSS and select Open and specify the XLS file type option for the type of data file. Next, select and click on your data file. The data will be automatically loaded into the SPSS data spreadsheet WWW.surveyz.com also provides an SPSS Syntax file download. On the export page, click on the SPSS command file download. This syntax file (filename.spo) contains the Variable List, Variable Labels, Value Labels. These labels can be read directly into SPSS by first opening them in SPSS (File Open Syntax), then making sure there is a period (.) at the end of the Value Label List. Then highlight the lists to be read in and then selecting "RUN" "SELECTION". The variable and value labels will then appear in the Variable View page of the SPSS data editor. |
